In 2010, a local businessman and member of the PCC of St. Peter’s Church, Old Woking was driving to work through Old Woking. He was feeling angry that darkness always seemed to ‘win the day’ on Halloween and then he had a picture in his mind of South Woking being bathed in light on the 31st of October. Following prayer with representatives of several local churches, the idea of Light beacons was born and we staged our first event on October 31st, 2010. Since then, a number of other churches in the area have joined in.
